Earlier this week we shared with you the news about Disney’s Moana costume and all the complaints it was receiving online. We have just received word that Disney has pulled its controversial “Moana” costume from their online store.
The costume based off the Dwayne Johnson’s character Maui from the film, consisted of a brown suit with tribal tattoos and leaf skirt.
Disney Released the following statement on Wednesday:
“The team behind ‘Moana’ has taken great care to respect the cultures of the Pacific Islands that inspired the film, and we regret that the Maui costume has offended some, “We sincerely apologize and are pulling the costume from our website and stores.”
Disney values their fans and I know would never intentionally offend anyone. Great job Disney!

Well, say goodbye to the Limited Edition Moana doll.
This is probably why the POC princesses don’t get as much attention. Not only do they not sell, but whenever Disney does try to make merchandise for them, people bitch about it.
