Disney Producer Claims Entire ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ Franchise is Going in a New Direction

After claims that the Margot Robbie female-led Pirates of the Caribbean movie had been scrapped by Disney, Producer Jerry Bruckheimer shared an important update with fans. According to Bruckheimer, Disney was developing two stories for a future Pirates of the Caribbean film, but the other unknown title is the one the studio has decided to move forward with.

“I think that that script will come forward at a certain point,” Bruckheimer said of the Margot Robbie-led film. “We developed two different stories for ‘Pirates’ and the other one’s going forward first, so that’s what we’re working on, to try to get that one made.”

Previously, Jerry shared with The Sunday Times, “Yes. We’re talking to Margot Robbie. We are developing two ‘Pirates’ scripts — one with her, one without. [Will Johnny Depp be back?] Not at this point. The future is yet to be decided.” Which is leading fans to believe that Captain Jack Sparrow may be returning in the next film despite previous announcements from Disney that actor Johnny Depp would not be returning to reprise his iconic role. Rumors have also run wild that a younger actor may step in to play the titular role, but no announcements have been made by the studio or executives at this time.
