Disney launches sensory-friendly plush

Stuffed animals have long been seen as cuddly sources of comfort, but with the added weight, they “bear” a greater therapeutic benefit. These sensory-friendly plush calm the nervous system and help ground children of all ages who may be dealing with certain special needs. Whether it is anxiety as an adult, or kids of all ages on the spectrum, those dealing with ADHD or sensory issues, and those dealing with physical disabilities, the weighted plush will help calm, relax, or just be a faithful companion.

Disney’s new sensory-friendly plush retail for $39.99 and have a removable 2.5lb weight. The material is softer for those who have issues with how certain things feel. They are available at Disney Springs.

We have heard from some adults who have anxiety and travel with weighted blankets that the stuffed Disney characters would replace a blanket. Our own Autistic product tester in our house happens to be 16 and loves the new Disney plush. We know kids who use weighted vests and would truly enjoy having Mickey as a companion instead.

These plush are great for adaptive needs because you can remove the weighted portion as needed.

Right now it appears that Mickey, Minnie, Stitch, Eeyore, and Pooh are the only characters available.

Disney has replaced the hard plastic eyes and noses with a soft material. No need to worry about choking or chewing off those pieces.
