Coastal Steel is known for its previous work on a myriad of previous Disney projects, including Expedition Everest, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, and Disney’s Blizzard Beach. Coastal Steel spacializes in the constriction of ride systems and steel structures, making them the ideal partner for this project that will likely include significant updates to the ride system of Big Thunder Mountain.

While official announcements are pending, the refurbishment is expected to start in September 2024 and last over a year, making it the longest in the ride’s history. The project will likely begin after Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opens on June 28, 2024, in Frontierland, helping manage park capacity during the closure.
