I don’t know if your in the same boat as me but filling up my gas tank this morning is really putting a dent in my wallet! With the cost going up and up and my paycheck not moving in over 3 years you have to wonder what are some people thinking???
Which makes me wonder if the raise in gas prices are going to reflect the costs at Disney and are people really going to go to the parks if they are getting reamed at the pumps.
Here is what one of the big wigs at Disney had to say:
“Historically, we have not seen that, in and of itself — separate from a downturn it might cause. In and of itself, oil prices have not dampened visitation or interest in visitation to our theme parks,” Disney Co. Chief Financial Officer Jay Rasulo told analysts during a conference organized by Credit Suisse.
I am no financial expert but most people have their trips paid for in advance. So the people that are coming to the parks right now have already paid for their trips. I can’t think of the last time where I went to Disney and smacked the money down on the counter or bought tickets at a ticket window.
I don’t believe we are going to see a reflection in attendance now, it will be many months from now. Chip requested me to tell you all to stop going to the parks beginning Sept 24 – Oct 2nd. I think he will be invading Walt Disney World at the time. Watch out!
Now as far as the cost of fuel at the parks since Disney raises their rates every year at the end of summer I would expect Disney to eat the additional cost till then and factor that in at that time.
Finally another big rumor going around is the cost of boat fuel. I have read in the various forums that the Disney Cruise Line will be raising their prices to reflect the sudden surge in gas prices.
Why am I not surprised?
No matter what the case the people are feeling the cost of the raise in gas prices and if you aren’t how bout you share the wealth and buy me a tank of gas.
