The worldwide COVID 19 pandemic has definitely made an impact on Disney parks and resorts.
However, there is one Disney Cast Member who is making an impact for fellow Cast Members with a special Cast Member Pantry!
Walt Disney World employee, Emily Lartigue, is one of many Cast Members whose roles have been furloughed. Even though there is no current opening date for the parks and resorts, Lartigue has found a way to help her fellow cast members. Emily Lartigue has set up a food pantry exclusively for Walt Disney World Resort employees.
What started as a collection of nonperishable foods that Lartigue had acquired since March, has now turned into a community outpouring of donations and support. The pantry is located in a local storage unit. Cast members can go to the pantry for food items and toiletries.
In order to visit the pantry, Lartigue asks her fellow Disney Cast Member to make an appointment. This will allow for only a couple people inside the unit at a time and help with social distancing. Emily also asks all who attend to wear masks and gloves as well.
As a part of the Walt Disney World community since 2013, Emily knew it was important to share a little magic to her peers. She wants her fellow Disney Cast Member to know, “Please don’t be embarrassed or ashamed. Know that you are definitely not the only one out there who needs help right now and that’s why we’re here, that’s why we’re created, and you have fellow cast members that are going to have your back and we’re here to support you“.
To make an appointment or a donation to the Cast Member Pantry, please visit their Facebook Page or send an email to castmemberpantry@gmail.com.
