Disney has rehired director James Gunn for the upcoming Guardians of The Galaxy 3 after he was summarily fired late last year. Deadline is reporting that the decision was made to bring Gunn back to his position after a tumultuous period last July when old tweets resurfaced that were deemed offensive and he was let go by Disney. Gunn’s firing from the Marvel franchise seemed permanent but apparently, the filmmaker worked his way back into the Disney fold with his public apology and subsequent meetings with Walt Disney Studios president, Alan Horn.
This news is made even more interesting given that Gunn recently signed on to write and direct the sequel to D.C.’s Suicide Squad. By the looks of things, Gunn will still helm that new film as well as taking back his position with Marvel Productions. We will keep you up to date on any new developments on Guardians of The Galaxy 3 and other Marvel Cinematic Universe films as they happen.
