DinoLand Placeholders Appear

We have been keeping an eye on DinoLand. DinoLand U.S.A., which is located in Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park, has been slated for a future re-imaging in the form of a Zootopia and Moana theme. While we were at Animal Kingdom checking out the holiday decorations going up we figured we would stroll over to DinoLand to see what if any progress has been made.

While the information released at this year’s D23 event was vague and said to still be in the early planning phases it’s interesting to observe any changes as potential progress, or in this case placeholders.

Added Seating

Primeval a spinning rollercoaster attraction was removed and closed permanently back in July 2020. The ride has safety issues and a couple of cast members received fatal injuries while operating the ride which ultimately led to its permanent closure. It was assumed something new would take its place.

While there has been no replacement for the ride due to possible re-theming of the area, however, a lot of seating has been added to the area along the wall of the former ride. Appreciative and tired guests filled in the area straight away. Benches and shaded umbrella tables seem like a perfect solution to filling in the space temporarily in what many guests say is the hottest of all Disney parks.

Ice Cream Cart Replaces Dino Diner

In the previous location of Dino Diner, we now see a temporary ice cream cart. Seating around this area remains unchanged. It appears as if they are trying to keep the area comfortable for guests while plans for the re-theming are underway.

There has been no additional info released yet as to when we can expect to see the changes. As always with any future park plans, there is always the possibility that the plans could be scrapped. Back when Magic Kingdom was building the Fantasyland extension a Pixie Hollowland Land was announced but later scrapped due to negative feedback and the budget went to expanding the Storybook Circus Land instead.

Only time will tell what the future of DinoLand will be. Personally, I love the cute theming of the area but do see a need to upgrade in some way at the very least. Many guests are excited about a Moana or Zootopia theme. We will keep you updated on any changes we see coming to the area.
