DinoLand Diner Now Extinct
With all the talk at D23 hinting to some possible upcoming changes to DinoLand we decided to head on over and see how things were looking. We were greeting by this shy guy looking like he was trying to hide behind a tree.
DinoLand’s theme is a little different than the rest of Animal Kingdoms other lands, but it has grown on me. Knowing the backstory does help you appreciate it much more. If there is one thing Disney is excellent at its telling a story in each of its lands. be sure to read up on it before your next visit and you will really enjoy it so much more.
Dino Diner Offerings
The area which features umbrella tables was a quick spot to grab a hot dog, churro, or frozen drink before trying your hand at some carnival style games. The opening in the blue fence is now blocked by Disney’s classic shrubbery on wheels, a method they commonly use to mask unsightly refurbishments or de-construction zones, is in place here with only the seating remaining.
Nearby attractions like Triceratops Spin and the Boneyard, a dino dig site themed playground , keeps younger ones entertained, while rides like Dinosaur offer a slightly more realistic version of some not so friendly dinosaurs for those looking for more of a thrill.
The photo above shows the old walk up quick service stand as it was before its removal, colorful and fun, much like the rest of DinoLand.
You can see the cutout in the fence from where the Dino Diner once stood.
We see you hiding back there big guy. No need to be shy. The rest of the area is untouched but looking more and more barren as this area is also suffering the loss of Primeval Whirl a spinning roller coaster ride that was removed in September 2021. Nothing remains but a construction wall and lots of empty pavement.
It does make one wonder just how long changes have been in the works for and how long it might be until this area starts undergoing major changes. Josh D’Amaro alongside Chris Beatty and Jennifer Lee appeared at the D23 Expo and hinted at some of the possible upcoming changes including Moana and Zootopia themes.
