‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Crosses $1 Billion at Global Box Office
‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ has officially joined the elite billion-dollar club. The R-rated Marvel spectacle, starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, has shattered box office records, grossing a combined $1.029 billion worldwide. This massive success makes it the second film of 2024 to surpass the billion-dollar mark, following Disney’s animated hit, “Inside Out 2.”

The film is poised to dethrone 2019’s “Joker” as the highest-grossing R-rated film ever. Currently holding the title with $1.07 billion, “Joker” will soon be eclipsed by the combined might of Deadpool and Wolverine.
“Deadpool & Wolverine” has injected new life into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The R-rated blockbuster has not only joined the exclusive billion-dollar club but also solidified its position as a much-needed win for the franchise.
While Disney’s Marvel arm has consistently dominated the box office, recent films like “Eternals,” “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” and “The Marvels” faced challenges. Though titles like “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” and “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” performed well, they fell short of the billion-dollar benchmark. “Deadpool & Wolverine” is only the second MCU film to surpass this milestone since 2019’s “Avengers: Endgame,” signaling a potential resurgence for the franchise.

Shawn Levy’s “Deadpool & Wolverine” marks a significant milestone for the MCU. The film is the first to feature characters previously owned by 20th Century Fox. Levy and Ryan Reynolds curated an all-star cast of former Fox heroes, including Jennifer Garner as Elektra, Chris Evans as the Human Torch, and Wesley Snipes as Blade, to join Deadpool and Wolverine on their time-bending adventure.
