Darth Maul Actor Strikes Down Rumors He Made an Appearance in Star Wars 'The Mandalorian'

Darth Maul Actor Strikes Down Rumors He Made an Appearance in Star WarsThe Mandalorian‘. SPOILER ALERT, this post contains a MINOR SPOILER for the new season of The Mandalorian. If you do not want any aspects of the first episode spoiled for you we recommend you stop reading past this point. Thank-you!

Though many Star Wars fans joined in for the premiere of Episode 1 for the new season of The Mandalorian, some reports jumped the gun and stated that Darth Maul actor Sam Witwer made an uncredited cameo appearance as a villager in first episode. This report by IGN was debunked by the actual background actor, Josh Moreno, and verified false by Sam Witwer himself on Twitter. Though the actors share some similar qualities, upon closure inspection the villager is clearly not Sam in disguise.

Josh shared the false report along with the caption, “When the Star Wars fandom thinks you’re [Sam Witwer] but you’re actually just villager #4 [IGN]”. Sam retweeted the post along with his own caption, “I wis IGN would, ya know, do their due diligence and research that my hair isn’t blonde… But hey.”

Sam Witwer as been the voice of Darth Maul for quite some time and is credited in the role for Star Wars properties such as Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels, and even Solo: A Star Wars Story. No one has stated directly that Witwer will not make some sort of appearance in the series, but for now we will just have to keep an eagle eye out for a real cameo.

  1. ***SPOILER*** Darth Maul dies in Tatooine in a fight with Obi-Wan in Star Wars Rebels, before The Mandalorian.
