Danai Gurira to Return as Okoye for ‘Black Panther: Kingdom of Wakanda’ Disney+ Series. Wakanda’s General Okoye is set to return for the upcoming Black Panther: Kingdom of Wakanda series coming to Disney+. Danai Gurira (The Walking Dead) is set to reprise her role for Kingdom of Wakanda television series and the upcoming sequel film, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. It is currently unknown if any other Black Panther or Marvel Studios cast members will be joining the cast, but we have a feeling we will see some familiar faces in the upcoming series!

Black Panther Director Ryan Coogler has shared with fans, “It’s an honor to be partnering with The Walt Disney Company. Working with them on Black Panther was a dream come true. As avid consumers of television, we couldn’t be happier to be launching our television business with Bob Iger, Dana Walden and all the amazing studios under the Disney umbrella.”

We are especially excited that we will be taking our first leap with Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso and their partners at Marvel Studios where we will be working closely with them on select MCU shows for Disney+. Danai Gurira to Return as Okoye for 'Black Panther: Kingdom of Wakanda' Disney+ Series

Though no plot details for the upcoming film, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, or newly announced series, Black Panther: Kingdom of Wakanda, have been made public, we do know that the late Chadwick Boseman had previously recorded content for Marvel Studios new Disney+ animated series, What If…? and it is now confirmed in a new trailer for the series that those vocal recordings will be used in the upcoming series despite his passing. It is currently unknown if the series or Black Panther film will address T’Challa’s departure or death due to the passing of Chadwick Boseman.
