Sony Pictures and Dakota Johnson (Fifty Shades of Grey, The Lost Daughter) are in talks regarding the future appearance of Madame Web in the live-action Spider-Verse. Notably, Madame Webb is standardly depicted as an elderly woman named Cassandra Webb. In the comics, Cassandra has myasthenia gravis which keeps her confined to her life support system that resembles a spiderweb.

With the age discrepancy between Dakota and the standard depiction, Sony is likely planning a different take on the character. The news of Dakota’s involvement was shared by The Hollywood Reporter via social media along with the caption, “Dakota Johnson is entering the Spider-Verse.
