Filming for Disney’s Pinocchio live-action remake is well underway, and we now have our first look at one of the iconic characters! Cynthia Erivo was cast as “The Blue Fairy” back in 2021 and reportedly shared a short clip of her in costume and singing the famous hit song When You Wish Upon a Star from the original animated film. Check out the brief clip below:
The upcoming Disney+ movie is a mix of live-action and CGI. The main character is the memorable puppet of course. He will be voiced by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth since the wooden puppet character requires CGI. The film’s feature stars also include Tom Hanks (Geppetto), Cynthia Erivo (Blue Fairy), Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Jiminy Cricket), Keegan-Michael Key (Honest John) and Luke Evans (The Coachman). The movie will be introducing new characters as well, such as Lorraine Bracco playing Sofia the Seagull.
A synopsis of the film has yet to be shared by Disney. But we expect the main plot points to hold up to the test of time, with some modern updates sprinkled throughout the film. Currently, Pinocchio is set to premiere exclusively on Disney+ in the Fall of 2022. Be sure to check back here at Chip and Company for updates and all things Disney!
