It’s been just over one year since the Great Movie Ride at Disney’s Hollywood Studios took its final curtain call. The ride closed its doors for good inside the Chinese Theater inside the Park to make way for a new attraction – Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. Construction has been underway on the new ride inside the Chinese Theater for quite some time now. However, we are now seeing construction going on outside the theater with the new construction partitions that were just installed over the weekend.
We are not 100% sure what is going on behind those walls at this time. Disney did make it known that no changes to the front of the building to change its aesthetics would be made. However, we online reports have indicated that the inside of the show area has been completely gutted. They might have just put up the walls to cover up props and other scenery being brought into the Theater. Or, since the indoor portion of the queue inside the Chinese Theater was already on the smaller side, they could potentially be building something to make the outside portion of the queue more pleasant under the hot, Florida sun.
No exact opening date has been announced for the opening of Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway other than sometime in 2109. To read up on the latest on the new attraction, please CLICK HERE.
