After the announcement of the all-new, first of its kind Play Pavilion coming to Epcot, work is underway on the new space. The former Wonders of Life building has been closed for some time, and only intermittently served as a festival center during certain times of the year.
Now, the pavilion is officially closed off, even to cast members, as crews begin construction on the interior. Previously, cast members were allowed to use the Wonders Of Life pavilion as a cut through to backstage locations. Now, it’s hard-hats only.
Disney announced in February that the innovated play pavilion will be devoted to fun! An interactive space where guests can explore an immersive “city” where your favorite characters are waiting to greet you. There will also be hands-on activities and entertainment under the dome. It’s expected that the new pavilion will be ready to open in time for the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World Resort in 2021.
More Coming To Epcot
In addition to the exciting new pavilion, Epcot is also working on the new Guardians of the Galaxy roller coaster right next-door. Another area on construction is the new space-themed table service restaurant, Space 220, located between Mission: SPACE and Test Track.
Over on the World Showcase side, we’re seeing the new Ratatouille ride building take shape in the France Pavilion.
Big things are coming to Epcot in the next year or so. I am so excited to see these new additions come to my favorite park! Which are you looking forward to the most?
