There has been ongoing construction at Magic Kingdom Park on the pathways leading to Cinderella Castle. The pathway connecting Fantasyland to Tomorrowland was recently reopened after being widened. Now that this pathway has been improved, the path connecting Fantasyland to Liberty Square near Sleepy Hallow will have work done to it. Once the pathways have been widened the bottlenecking that normally occurs in these locations should subside.
On March 20 we reported that the moat around Cinderella Castle was being drained in order to work on the projecting widening the Fantasyland to Liberty Square path. As you can see in the photos, the moat has been drained.
The draining of the moat has actually been quite extensive.
There has been a dam set up on the Tomorrowland side of the park near Cosmic Rays. For those not familiar with Magic Kingdom Park, if you are looking at Cinderella Castle, the area where the dam is staged is to the right of the castle. The pathway which is being widened is located to the left.
Hopefully, this path widening project will not take too long to complete, although it is quite interesting to see this area without any water. I think most prefer the moats to be filled with water! Make sure to keep checking back for updates to the moat and construction.

I’m really happy they decided to widen the walkway, because it was getting ridiculous especially when everyone decides to go in the same direction lol. I heard they found a cane in the moat after they drained it–crazy! I just hope this mess is done with by the time I go in August! #DisneyVacayGiveaway
