Christopher Robin Falls Short For It's First Weekend At The Box Office

Christopher Robin opened this weekend all across the United States. While Disney was hoping for a record breaking opening weekend for it’s new live action film, the movie fell short. Mission:  Impossible – Fallout soared into first, grossing $35 million in 4,395 locations. Christopher Robin opened with just $25 million in 3,602 locations.

This is the second film from Disney this year that has not opened in the number one spot. A Wrinkle In Time, which hit theaters back in March, saw only $33.5 million for it’s first few days.

Even though the film did not break records, Disney is still optimistic that Christopher Robin will rebound. Disney’s head of theatrical distribution Cathleen Taff stated “We believe this is a solid start for this film. We think this movie will have legs. We don’t have a lot of family  film competition behind us.”

Ewan McGregor plays a grown up Christopher Robin who finds his way again with the help of his childhood friends from the Hundred Acre Woods. Join Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, Eeyore and the gang in Disney’s Christopher Robin, now in theaters!
