Changes Coming to Parking at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Changes Coming to Parking at Disney's Hollywood Studios

Disney’s Hollywood Studios is under constant construction these days, gearing up for the highly anticipated opening of Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge on August 29. One of the biggest changes to the park is the inclusion of the new Disney Skyliner transportation service that will connect guests to Hollywood Studios from Epcot and certain onsite hotels this fall. In addition, the parking lot and bus drop off areas have been under heavy work to allow space for the new Skyliner station and the larger amount of daily guests. Now we know about some changes coming to the parking section names.

Changes Coming to Parking at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

On March 19 the names of each section of Disney’s Hollywood Studios parking lot will change. The new names will reflect the new direction and theme of the park, featuring characters guests can look forward to meeting while there. The new parking sections will be named Jessie, Buzz, Mickey, Minnie, BB-8, and Olaf. This is a change from the current titles of sections with movie and theater terms like “Stage” and “Film”. In addition to the renaming of the parking areas, there will also be two new bus drop-off loops added at the entrance of the park. This combined with the new Skyliner service should help to handle the large influx of guests that will be visiting Galaxy’s Edge in the foreseeable future.

  1. I’m not really liking the parking lot name changes. Hollywood Studies had a lot of BIG changes over the years, like removing the infamous Mickey’s Sorcerer’s hat that was staple of Hollywood Studios, getting rid of the Great Movie Ride & Lights, Motors, Action! – the stunt show (two AMAZING experiences that screamed ‘movies’), & the addition of Toy Story Land & now Star Wars Land!! I feel like when the park first opened, it felt more like you were in a movie studio than you were an amusement park. Everything in the park (& outside, including the parking lot) screamed ‘hollywood’ & ‘movies’, but it’s becoming more & more subtle as the years go on. What once felt like a backlot is not anymore, & now with the parking lot name changes it definitely doesn’t feel that way anymore. The original names like ‘Stage’ & ‘Film’ made so much sense being it was called MGM Studios, & now Hollywood Studios. #DisneyVacayGiveaway
