Rum’s legacy traces back to the 17th-century sugar cane fields of Barbados. Slaves began producing what was then called “rumbullion”, eventually dubbed “rum” by settlers. Today’s Caribbean Moonshine takes inspiration from this legacy, with its rum base distilled in Puerto Rico’s Club Caribe distillery. This is then blended with Florida’s spring water and cane sugar, making it a delightful 50-proof drink. And for the curious, you can witness the final bottling process right at the store.
Decked in lively island colors, Caribbean Moonshine serves up what’s called the “Taste of Vacation”. Dive into five enticing rum flavors:

Founded by travel pros Steve Nichols and Mike Weber, the store is more than a tasting room. It’s a walk through history. As Nichols shares, Florida was a haven for bootleggers in the 1920s and 30s, with mobster Al Capone even running a hidden distillery in the Everglades. “Our goal is to recreate a sense of those times,” Nichols explains, catering to both locals and global visitors.
Don’t miss out on their ‘shine’ cakes, a fruity rum cake delight crafted from Caribbean Moonshine. For those who want to shake things up, Nichols and Weber offer cocktail and baked goods recipes, available both in-store and online.
