After years of dedicated service on trips throughout the galaxy, C-3PO will be removed from Star Tours temporarily for refurbishment.
The protocol droid that briefs guests in the queue of Star Tours: The Adventures Continue, will be removed from that area beginning February 17th. During this time, guests will still see C-3PO once they are inside the cabin of their Starpeeder 1000.
Many areas in and around Star Tours will see some changes and sprucing up as we get close to the anticipated opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. This week, temporary walls went up in the area around the Speeder Bike Photo Op just outside the attraction as well.
Disney has not made an official announcement for the opening date of the new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. However, all clues point to sometime in late Fall, just in time for the holiday rush. As we reported earlier, Disney will not be creating a marketing campaign around the new land, as it’s hype has already been built up so much. Early estimates are projection anywhere from 150,000-200,000 people arriving when the land opens in Disneyland this summer. Experts expect the Walt Disney World numbers to be even greater.
