A Broadway revival of “Beauty and the Beast” might be on its way!
Disney Theatrical Productions will retell the classic tale in the first-ever Broadway revival.
“Beauty and the Beast” was the first Disney film to be adapted into a Broadway Musical. It opened at the Palace Theater in 1994 and ran for 13 wonderful years.
In celebration of the 25th anniversary, Thomas Schumacher, Disney Theatrical Productions President, announced the revival scoop on ABC News. He did not reveal many details such as date, location, or timeline, but he said, “it’s happening” and that he is “deep in it”.
“Beauty and the Beast” ushered in the fame of Disney on Broadway. Currently, there are three Disney shows on Broadway today – “Frozen”, “Aladdin”, and “The Lion King” which holds the award for highest-grossing entertainment property in the entire world.
