One of the things that I think of with fondness when I think about Walt Disney World is the fireworks. I have grown to have a deep appreciation for the fireworks at both Magic Kingdom and at Epcot. I think the main reason for this was because for a long time I wouldn’t watch the fireworks. When they were about to show, I would find a shop somewhere to go inside, and avoid the loud noises and bright flashes of light. The reason for this is because, for some reason, my ears are sensitive to the big booms of the explosions, so much so that it really bothered me – the anticipation of a loud explosion perhaps more than anything.
Then one day we had the bright idea of just buying a cheap set of ear plugs, and my love of the fireworks shows was born!
I don’t know what you all thought of it, but I know that for myself, the Summer Fantastic! Fireworks Spectacular that they had last summer was an incredible fireworks show! As much as I love Wishes, being able to see all of the fireworks from both over Cinderella’s Castle and from around the park really was incredible. Add in the effects of having the pirates take over the Castle (for a while), and that fireworks show was one to remember for a long time to come.
One of the reasons that I really love seeing the fireworks shows is to be able to get some of those one of a kind photos that you can only get with fireworks. It takes a lot of patience, and a lot of pictures that really don’t turn out (at least for me), but I have been able to get some really good ones (at least I think they are!) Here are some of my favorites.
For me, what really makes the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom and Epcot so much better than any other fireworks at any other theme park or state fair is the incredible music and story that goes along with the fireworks. If you haven’t experienced any of the fireworks shows of late, make sure you plan on watching them at least once on your next trip. For me, one thing that I’m really looking forward to is watching the fireworks from the Top of the World Lounge over at Bay Lake Towers in June! One goal I have with our next trip is to take a peek at some better photos of Illuminations. I have some shots of it, but none of them are really that good, so that gives me a good challenge for our next trip!
