If all goes according to plan, one day you’ll be able to say goodbye to those boring, long care rides! And it’s all thanks to Disney and Audi! The two power-houses are teaming up to develop and offer a high-tech driving experience that’ll easily be on-of-a-kind.
“Audi Meet Disney” is a concept being developed by both companies which includes augmented reality experiences, games, and entertainment for riders. The announcement came yesterday. According to Nils Wollny, Audi’s head of digital business strategy and customer service, they approached Disney about the idea last year. Wollney explained further regarding certain aspects of the experience, to include window overlays and other fun activities for riders.
But what about the driver? Wouldn’t all of this be distracting? Nope! Because they’re self-driving! Disney has been toying around with the idea for a while, and it seems Audi is the answer to hang ups experienced along the way. Imagine if you will, catching a ride from your home resort to the Magic Kingdom while playing fun games…without the stress of driving through traffic. It’s a grand idea!
Augmented reality is the obvious next step for Disney technology. Imagine riding the monorail and seeing Cinderella’s castle take on a dark and sinister appearance during holiday parties? Or Spaceship Earth as the Death Star! These are all possibilities that Disney has been exploring, and it seems that by teaming with Audi…we are one step closer to getting cuttin-edge immersive experiences!
