Angelina Jolie Rejected Superhero Role Before Joining Marvel Universe

Angelina Jolie Rejected Superhero Role Before Joining Marvel Universe

We’re a month away from the release of The Eternals, which is the next major chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe! Marvel Studios’ next blockbuster will introduce a whole new team of superheroes who have been on Earth for thousands of years. Directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Chloé Zhao, the film boasts a star-studded cast, including Jolie, who plays one of the Eternals, Thena.

Even though it’s the first time Angelina Jolie is playing a super hero on screen, the actress did reveal it’s not the first time she was offered the opportunity to appear as a super hero. She has no intention to reveal what prior role was offered to her, but she did state the following about the comic book movie genre:

“I don’t usually lean towards superhero or sci-fi films. It’s not usually what I’m looking to do. It felt like something else was happening in this film, though. It was very character-driven. These guys aren’t Spider-Man or Captain America or the Hulk. A lot of hardcore fans won’t know who the Eternals are. Introducing them all at once, that isn’t easy. It’s not one of us in front and other characters behind. It’s this really equal family. And I wanted to be a part of this family.”
