Allergy Friendly Treats available at Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party

Mickey’s Halloween Party really is, not so scary! Did you know that even if you have food allergies or dietary restrictions you can still get all the treats trick-or-treating with non of the tricks! Disney has a special way for kids of all ages to enjoy the holiday fun without the dangers that so many in the food allergy community face.

For my son who has life-threatening nut allergies, this was his first time being able to experience something that for the rest of us has been a cherished memory growing up, trick or treating. You don’t have to be a child to participate. The best thing about Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is everyone can get in on the fun.

There are not only allergy-friendly options like dairy-free, nut-free, egg-free, etc. but also sugar-free options as well. They even offer a cute Halloween mini foam craft as a nonfood option.

Disney has done such a wonderful thing here and this food allergy momma gets tears in her eyes thinking about how truly wonderful it is when everyone can be included. For those of us dealing with life-threatening allergies, we know just how many times we couldn’t participate in holiday events or even attend family parties or birthdays. To see a child light up when you can hand them a trick-or-treat bag and let them be part of everything is truly heartwarming!

How Allergy Safe Trick-Or-Treating Works

The first thing you want to do when entering Magic Kingdom is grab a map when entering through the tunnel. On the map, you will see two clearly marked teal Mickey Icons that designate the allergy-friendly candy locations. This is where you will return at the end of the night to redeem your token for safe treats.

As you enter the park you will be steered off to the right where cast members will be handing out candy bags. You will want to make sure to ask for a teal allergy candy bag. This is how you let other cast members know to only put teal tokens in your bag, not unsafe treats.

Next is the best part. Have fun! You can safely trick-or-treat and any location. Get in the regular candy lines and show the cast members your teal allergy-friendly candy bag. They will give you teal-colored tokens to redeem at the end of the night. Be sure to ask cast members when entering the front of the line as some of the lines hand out the tokens at the start of the line, and some at the very end.

Collect your allergy safe treats

At the end of the night take your bag of teal tokens to one of the allergy-friendly centers marked on the map. You will find one on Main Street just to the left of Guest Services and another located in Liberty Square behind the Sleepy Hollow quick service location.

Cast members there will ask you what your special dietary needs are and point out a list of available treats and safe options available. There is also a complete list of ingredients available on the counter for you to look over. Once you let them know which selections you prefer cast members will fill your bag and all that’s left to do is enjoy!

This is a just a sample of some of the products available and how the ingredient listing is displayed.

All of the fun, non of the fear. That’s what Mickey’s Not So Scary is all about!

We have quite a stash. This is what our peanut and tree nut allergy-safe candy selections looked like. There might have been a few Sunbutter Cups in there, but let’s just say they are mom’s favorite and did not last long!

Do I think Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is worth it? Yes! If you have dietary restrictions or food allergies, then make that a double yes. The fact that every family member can be included is priceless in my opinion.
