Construction walls went up this week around certain areas inside the ABC Commissary in Hollywood Studios. These are likely in preparation for the self-serve soda fountains coming to the Quick Service location.
Work began this week, with no expected opening date as of yet. It’s likely that these new machines will be the Coca-Cola Freestyle machines that have been popping up all over Disney property. If that’s true, guests will be able to select from a multitude of different beverage and flavoring selections to fill up their cups.
When you do fill your cup at the ABC Commissary, it will be a new, sturdier Solo brand cup. Earlier this month the new style of cups debuted at quick service locations and have replaced the flimsy-er Dixie brand cups. The sturdy new style is less prone to spillage now that Disney no longer provides plastic lids on fountain drinks.
Another change we’ll see soon is the switch from plastic to earth-friendly paper straws. These changes are part of a larger environmental initiative to create less waste in its theme parks throughout the world.
