A Round Table Interview With Ally Maki of Toy Story 4

Earlier this week at an intimate round table interview we got a chance to meet one of the newest Toy Story 4 characters Giggles.

Toy Story 4’s Giggle McDimples is played by Washington native, Ally Maki. The Japanese-American actress came to Los Angeles at the young age of 14. Maki was discovered by a talent agent and was approached by Columbia Records to join an all-girl music group. While she loved music her passion was television and movies… She went on to have recurring roles in television such as “New Girl”, “2 Broke Girls” and even one of my favorites “The Big Bang Theory”.

Recently Ally starred in Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger and even scored a major role in the television series, “Wrecked”. Maki’s character “Jess” is as fun-loving as she is. She also speaks up for diversity in the industry and works with Girls Inc. to empower young women everywhere.

Also, can I just say her laugh is incredibly infectious, which is probably how she got the role of “Giggle McDimples” in Toy Story 4.

We got invited to a round table interview with Ally Maki earlier this week. Going into the interview I really didn’t know what to expect but it turned out it was a fun interview and she was really a great person to interact with.

My colleagues and I enjoyed listening to her answers to the questions some of us asked. She mentioned how she really loved her character because Giggles was brutally honest and someone who is not afraid to use her inner voice. She also talked about how the Toy Story franchise was part of her life growing up, Buzz and Woody felt like her friends whom she grew up with and she thinks it’s crazy being part of the Toy Story universe now!

At one point Ally talked about how she was cast, Pixar ended up doing a blind casting process where the casting people just listen to the voices of the actors without knowing who they were. Talk about scary???

Overall the interview while unexpected turned out to be a wonderful chance to meet a new emerging actress in the Toy Story world and honestly who doesn’t enjoy talking with someone who is so positive and upbeat all the time? It was a pleasure meeting Ally and I know you guys will really enjoy seeing Giggles on the big screen!

Toy Story 4 comes out this weekend and we highly recommend this movie. If you’re a fan of the franchise, you DON’T want to miss this one.
