I was beyond psyched to see a package sitting on my front porch this afternoon! That’s because I knew what waited for me, inside of that carefully bubble wrapped envelope! It was a copy of Cinderella: Diamond Edition on Blu-ray/DVD for me to review! Yay! I am telling you, this is edition is definitely something you’ll want to add to your collection! You can get your copy October 2nd!
So, we all know and love this timeless tale. The magic, music, and romance is clearly evident in this beautifully remastered Blu-ray version. Putting in the disc and hearing those voices and lyrics felt like putting on my favorite sweater, like a cup of warm soup, or like a hug from a family member…I was home! The movie alone would be enough cause to buy a copy on October 2nd. But today, I am taking this review beyond basics. I’m passing up plot for some purely amazing bonus features. This Blu-ray edition is literally everything I dreamed for! For all my fellow Disney World lovers, you’ll want to keep reading…there is an entire bonus featurette on the Fantasyland expansions!!!! I am seriously like a kid on Christmas morning….let’s unwrap this thing!

Behind the Magic: A new Disney Princess Fantasyland
To say that I watched this featurrette “as giddy as a school child” is an understatement. I don’t think I heard half of what they were saying because I was so stinkin’ excited. But that is okay, what I missed the first time, I’ve made up for in my re-watches! I (like many of you) CANNOT wait for Fantasyland to open on December 6th. I have sucked in every single detail about the expansion since its announcement. I’ve read articles, watched videos, and researched like it is nobodies business…and STILL, I am flabbergasted at the sight of all the possibilities and additions. Join Ginnifer Goodwin from ABC’s Once Upon a Time on a behind the scenes tour of the much-anticipated Fantasyland expansions, where she takes on the roll of honorary imagineer (FYI, Disney peeps, I could TOTALLY do that for you if you ever need another volunteer…just sayin’…I’ll take one for the team). You’ll see concept art, actual additions, and catch the vision of this awesome addition! I’m going to go watch it again!
The Real Fairy Godmother
Well, it is official. I am in love with Mary Alice O’connor! I knew I would love this featurette, but I had no idea how truly touching it would be. As a history/Disney/anything with serving others lovers, I have to say that this featurette paid a beautiful homage to this amazing woman. Grab your tissues cause if you are like me, you’ll probably bibbidi bobbidi boo hoo! I am a sucker for a good story. I just know you’ll love it!
Tangled Ever After
I really loved this short. I really love that I can watch it whenever I want to now that it is a part of this edition’s bonus features. I don’t have much more to write for this point other than, I am really happy it was included!
The Magic of the Glass Slipper: A Cinderella Story
This is a strangely intriguing special feature. It reminds me of some sort of Roger Rabbit meets Impressions de France (aka the movie from the France Pavilion at EPCOT). I do think the concept was neat and sure, I’d take a pair of Cinderella inspired Christian Louboutin shoes (again, Disney peeps…one for the team…I am a martyr when it comes to Disney). Either way, it is interestingly odd…and gives reason enough for me to say, you should really check it out.
PLUS…
You get the special features from the original DVD! This edition is seriously packed with special features! I’d go so far as to say that the Fairy Godmother of special features must have done a little work on this one! I am so excited to see all of the original concept art, biographies, and bonuses! What a great buy! I hope this will tide you over until you can get your copy on October 2nd!
