Paige O’Hara Surprises Cast of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ North American Tour
Disney Legend Paige O’Hara, the original voice of Belle in Disney’s classic 1991 animated feature film Beauty and the Beast, recently made a special appearance at the North American touring production of the stage musical.
O’Hara dropped by backstage and met with the cast and crew following a performance at The Smith Center in Las Vegas.
The official social media channels for Beauty and the Beast the Musical shared photos celebrating the heartwarming reunion, noting it was “with deepest pride and greatest pleasure” that they welcomed the legendary actress.
During her backstage visit, O’Hara met with the company, posing for photos with the full cast. She spent time chatting with Kyra Belle Johnson, who currently stars as Belle in the touring company, as well as Devin Archer, who was stepping into the role of the Beast during her visit (filling in for star Fergie L. Philippe).
Named an official Disney Legend in 2011, O’Hara’s performance as Belle remains one of the most beloved vocal portrayals in Disney animation history. Her surprise stop brought the magic full circle for the cast bringing these timeless characters to life on stage every night.
This current production marks the first Disney-produced North American tour of Beauty and the Beast in over 25 years.Reuniting key members of the original Broadway creative team, the production features timeless songs by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman, and Tim Rice, alongside updated stage direction and spectacular visual effects.
The Las Vegas engagement at The Smith Center concludes its run this weekend before moving on to its next tour stop.
