Get Ready to Be Spellbound: Disney Drops the First Trailer for Coven Academy
Grab your broomsticks and dust off your spellbooks, because Disney just dropped the official trailer for Coven Academy, and it looks like our next teenage supernatural obsession is officially here. Executive Producer Tim Federle, the mastermind behind High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, is bringing a fast paced, binge worthy new original series to our screens, and the initial peek promises a wild ride packed with magic, drama, and high stakes romance.

Set in the haunted heart of New Orleans, the show follows an elite magic boarding school where power is the ultimate currency, secrets can literally kill you, and catching feelings is a massive liability. The story centers on three teenage witches and a few dangerously charming warlocks caught right in the middle of ancient supernatural wars and forbidden romance. Set to the chaotic perfection of Olivia Rodrigo’s hit song “Brutal,” the trailer gives us a delicious taste of the moody energy, mysterious vibes, and spellcasting chaos we can expect.
At the center of it all is Briar, played by Malina Weissman (A Series of Unfortunate Events), a fiercely independent New Yorker who is suddenly forced to navigate her newly discovered witchy powers. As if learning magic isn’t hard enough, Briar finds herself tangled in a turbulent love triangle with Jake (Malachi Barton), a magnetic warlock with a dangerous edge, and Ollie (Louis Thresher), a hungry, newly turned vampire. Her enigmatic energy instantly turns heads at the academy, making her both a target and a force to be reckoned with.
The rest of the core squad brings plenty of supernatural firepower to the table. Jordan Leftwich stars as Sasha, a deeply empathic student capable of reading minds, while Ora Duplass plays Tegan, an irreverent witch who can literally bend time. Keeping this chaotic group of teens in line is 90s icon Tiffani Thiessen as Miss Graves, the academy’s formidable and effortlessly glamorous headmistress. The stacked cast also features special guest star Devon Sawa as Mr. Cole, a brilliant and charismatic warlock professor, alongside a recurring cast that includes Swayam Bhatia, Brendon Tremblay, Keegan Connor Tracy, BJ Harrison, and Nathaniel Logan McIntyre.
