Aerial Look Shows Major Progress at Former Lost Continent Site in Islands of Adventure

Construction is moving right along at the former Lost Continent area of Universal Islands of Adventure, and a new aerial look from Bioreconstruct shows just how much the landscape has changed. Large portions of the former land have now been cleared, with heavy equipment spread throughout the site as Universal prepares the area for whatever comes next.

Demolition officially began in late May, and crews have made steady progress ever since. The new aerial photos show extensive excavation across the former Lost Continent footprint, including large cleared sections of land near what remains of the Mythos and Poseidon’s Fury area. Several structures and themed elements remain standing for now, but much of the surrounding area has been stripped down to dirt as crews continue site preparation.

Universal Orlando has not announced what will replace The Lost Continent, leaving plenty of room for speculation. Rumors over the years have ranged from a Legend of Zelda-themed land to Pokémon, while others have suggested the property could eventually become an expansion of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. At this point, none of those possibilities have been confirmed, so the construction site remains one of the biggest question marks at Universal Orlando Resort.
