Disney World Brings Princess Magic to Wish Kids at Give Kids The World Village
Walt Disney World celebrated World Princess Week in a particularly meaningful way this year, bringing some royal Disney magic to wish kids and their families at Give Kids The World Village in Central Florida. The special celebration gave families staying at the nonprofit resort the chance to meet beloved Disney Princesses, create keepsakes, enjoy entertainment, and make memories together away from the challenges of everyday medical care.

The celebration was packed with experiences inspired by Disney Princess stories. Rapunzel helped kids decorate paper lanterns inspired by Tangled, which later illuminated the Village as families returned from their adventures around Central Florida. Belle hosted a special story time centered around bravery and kindness, while Moana helped children create Heart of Te Fiti-inspired jewelry. Princess Tiana and Louis brought some New Orleans energy to the celebration with a lively second line parade through the Village, complete with music, dancing, and plenty of smiles.

One especially memorable moment belonged to Orlando wish kid Ny’lah, whose wish included meeting Princess Tiana. Tiana surprised her during the event, where the two shared a big hug and talked about everything from Mama Odie and the Bayou to their shared love of music, dancing, and beignets. Ny’lah said her wish trip gave her the chance to spend time outside the hospital without worrying about her medical journey, calling meeting Tiana one of the most magical parts of the experience.

The celebration also highlighted an incredible milestone in Central Florida. Walt Disney World, Give Kids The World, and wish-granting organizations including Make-A-Wish have now worked together for four decades to create special vacations for children facing critical illnesses and their families. Disney was a founding partner of Give Kids The World, which provides weeklong Central Florida wish vacations to families at no cost.

World Princess Week celebrations are reaching far beyond Orlando as well. Wish families have been treated to special Disney Princess experiences at Disneyland Resort, while Disneyland Paris is preparing to welcome 50 Make-A-Wish children and their families from across Europe for a royal-themed weekend. Wish alumna Mikayla, who became Disney and Make-A-Wish’s 150,000th wish kid in 2023, also returned to the spotlight this year with a performance alongside Susan Egan during D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event.

It is a reminder that Disney magic can mean much more than attractions, fireworks, and character meet-and-greets. For these families, a lantern craft, a parade with Tiana, or a simple princess hug can become a memory that lasts far beyond the vacation itself.
