Two New Cars Attractions Coming to Magic Kingdom
At D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Disney officially announced thrilling new details about the high-octane attractions and spectacular scenery coming to Frontierland at Magic Kingdom.
Taking to the “Horizons: A Carousel of Progress” stage to share the news were Michael Hundgen, Vice President Creative for Walt Disney World, and Imagineer Jason Grandt.

Miss Fritter’s Daredevil Spin-Along
Making its public debut, the second attraction coming to Piston Peak was officially announced as Miss Fritter’s Daredevil Spin-Along. Inspired by the “Diva of Demolition” from Cars 3, Michael Hundgen revealed that the ride will feature Miss Fritter as a “huge school-bus-sized animatronic” hosting a stampeding bash at her “wildest demolition derby yet”.
Cars Ridge Run Rally
Further details were also revealed for Piston Peak’s flagship racing attraction. Imagineer Jason Grandt introduced the crowd to Cars Ridge Run Rally, describing the experience as a high-speed quest to find “the wildest racer in the wheelderness” as guests compete for the “fastest lap in the west”.

- The Summit Climb: A drive up Piston Peak itself, where an icy, snow-covered mountaintop awaits. (Grandt noted the frosty summit will be especially spectacular at night!)
- Camelback Descent & Geysers: Plunging down from the top for a camelback descent before navigating an exhilarating geyser field.
- The Grand Finale: Circling the Old Tankfull geyser before a sprint to the finish line, where Lightning McQueen and Mater will be covering the race live on the Racing Sports Network.
Fans at D23 got an up-close look at these off-road challenges—including ridges, rivers, mud flats, and tree-covered trails—at the “Imagineering: Horizons” pavilion, where a massive 225-square-foot scale model showcased the entire project.
Revolutionary Ride Technology
Cars Ridge Run Rally will debut a completely new ride vehicle system. Designed not just to simulate an off-road car, but to actually be one, the attraction promises that guests will “feel every bump, drop, and rock because this vehicle’s tires and suspension are truly driving over and reacting to them”. Construction is already fully underway.
Welcome to Piston Peak National Park
The new area builds on the sweeping storytelling tradition of Magic Kingdom, transitioning guests from the colonial America of Liberty Square into the expanding American Frontier.
While fictional, Piston Peak is heavily inspired by the Rocky Mountains and the iconic sights of American national parks. To ensure the visitor lodge, Ranger HQ, and trails fit naturally into the majestic landscape, Imagineers are using “Parkitecture”—a style developed by the National Park Service to harmonize structures with their natural environment.
From the outside, towering trees will provide a natural barrier between the off-road rally and the rest of Frontierland, while dramatic mountain peaks and soaring geysers stretch into the sky along the waterway across from Grizzly Hall.
Cruising Just Around the Bend
The expansion of Magic Kingdom doesn’t stop here. Imagineers are already hard at work beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, bringing to life the first-ever land inspired by Disney Villains—featuring two major attractions, dining, and shopping on a twisted, grand scale.
