Disney and Macy’s Partner to Celebrate 100 Years of Thanksgiving Day Parade Magic

Disney and Macy’s are joining forces to celebrate a milestone century of holiday tradition. Ahead of the historic 100th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, both brands revealed that a new giant character balloon featuring Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey will take flight over New York City this November.

The announcement was unveiled at Downtown Disney District as a surprise moment for guests attending D23 Day at Disneyland Resort.

Sorcerer Mickey Takes to the NYC Sky

Inspired by Mickey Mouse’s iconic role in Disney’s Fantasia, the Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey balloon represents the newest chapter in a long-standing partnership between Disney and Macy’s. The tradition began back in 1934 when Mickey Mouse debuted as the very first Disney character balloon to ever soar in the annual parade.

The new giant balloon will march down the streets of Manhattan during the landmark centennial broadcast this Thanksgiving.

Exclusive Capsule Collection Drops Today

To mark 100 years of parade history, Macy’s is releasing an exclusive Disney merchandise capsule collection inspired by the new Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey balloon and classic parade moments.

Launching on August 13, the initial release features limited-edition fashion, accessories, and collectibles from popular brands, including:

• Loungefly
• Super Smalls
• Swarovski

Over 100 Themed Items Arriving This Fall

While the August 13 drop gives fans an early preview, the full merchandise collection will roll out broader assortment items later this autumn. The expanded lineup will include more than 100 unique products inspired by decades of Disney, Pixar, and Marvel character appearances throughout Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade history.
