Muzeo Museum and Cultural Center in Anaheim, CA has launced Capturing Life, Creating Character: The Art of Live-Action Reference, an exclusive premiere exhibition curated specifically for Muzeo by the Walt Disney Archives. Running from August 8, 2026, to November 1, 2026, this groundbreaking showcase represents a significant moment for both Muzeo and Anaheim, bringing the storied creativity of The Walt Disney Company straight to the birthplace of Disneyland.

About the Exhibition

Capturing Life, Creating Character: The Art of Live-Action Reference offers an inspiring look at character animation by pairing seldom-seen photos of reference models with their final animated figures. These captivating images honor both the actors’ performances and the relentless dedication of Disney animators aiming for cinematic perfection. They likewise celebrate Walt Disney, whose vision transformed animation into a recognized art form while constantly elevating character personality.

Organized into thematic sections, the exhibit showcases how live-action reference drives believable animation. Guests will discover how artist reference improves fluid motion, builds convincing environments, models natural garment movement, grounds character actions with physical props, and guarantees authentic animal mechanics. Combined, these techniques bring unmatched realism, emotion, and life to Disney’s classic tales.

Through rare archival photography, historic artifacts, and engaging displays curated by the Walt Disney Archives, visitors gain an insider’s perspective on the craftsmanship behind iconic animated feature films.
