Wonder Man Canceled at Disney+ Despite Previously Announced Season 2 Renewal
Marvel’s Wonder Man will not return for a second season on Disney+, despite Disney previously announcing that the series had been renewed. According to a new report, a writers’ room for Season 2 was never opened, and the show’s writers have now been released to pursue other projects.

The series starred Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as aspiring Hollywood actor Simon Williams and Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery. The first season followed the unlikely pair as they chased roles in a new superhero movie, giving viewers a look behind the curtain at Hollywood while mixing Marvel action with comedy and character-driven storytelling.
Wonder Man earned strong reviews, including a reported 91% critical approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Abdul-Mateen also received an Emmy nomination for outstanding lead actor in a comedy series. However, the show appeared on Nielsen’s streaming top 10 originals chart only once, landing at number eight during its debut week before dropping off the following week.

While Season 2 is no longer moving forward, Simon Williams, Trevor Slattery, and other characters from the series could still appear elsewhere in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In other words, the curtain may have closed on Wonder Man as a series, but Marvel may still have another role waiting in the wings.
