Everest: The Other Side Set for October Theatrical Release from Oscar-Winning Filmmakers

National Geographic Documentary Films and Academy Award®-winning directors Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin are returning to the big screen with their newest masterpiece, Everest: The Other Side!

The highly anticipated documentary will premiere exclusively in theaters and IMAX® worldwide on October 30, 2026. Before hitting theaters globally, the film will make its prestigious festival debuts at both the 83rd Venice International Film Festival and the 51st Toronto International Film Festival.

At its core, Everest: The Other Side is an intimate portrait of two elite ski mountaineers—Jim Morrison and Hilaree Nelson—who fell deeply in love while reaching the absolute pinnacle of their sport. Together, their shared passion sharpened into a audacious dream: to climb and ski down the direct North Face of Mount Everest.

The direct North Face route is widely regarded as:

• The most difficult and dangerous climb on the mountain.
• The most coveted ski descent on Earth.
