Haunted Mansion Gravestones Moved as Construction Progresses at Magic Kingdom

Foolish mortals, beware—a few iconic residents of the Haunted Mansion have quietly moved into new final resting places!

As refurbishment and surrounding construction work continues across Magic Kingdom, select construction walls have officially been removed from the queue’s landscaped graveyard plot near the foyer doors. Upon their removal, keen-eyed guests immediately noticed that several famous headstones have been rearranged.

Who Shifted Resting Places?

The family plot located directly beside the mansion’s foyer entrance—just beneath the brick walls and iron fencing—received a subtle layout shuffle:

  • Uncle Theodore & Cousin Algernon: The headstone for Uncle Theodore (famous as one of the Singing Busts inside) and the tall, rounded monument for Cousin Algernon have both moved forward in the queue, taking a more prominent position near the front of the plot.
  • “Our Dreamy Dorothea”: The tall monument for Dorothea has shifted a few feet closer to the foyer entrance and is now angled slightly more toward passing guests.
  • “A Man Named Martin”: Previously visible near the back-left corner with the epitaph “The lights went out on this old spark,” Martin’s grave is no longer in sight—suggesting it was either moved further into the landscaping or temporarily removed.

Resting peacefully in their original spots are Cousin Huet (“Rest in peace Cousin Huet, we all know you didn’t do it”), Wathel R. Bender, and the shared pedestal for Madame Carlotta and Madame Renatta.

Ongoing Work Around Gracey Manor

While construction walls are slowly coming down along the facade and queue, temporary wooden boards currently cover sections of the concrete pavement leading to the foyer doors. These narrow walkway covers indicate that crews are likely continuing behind-the-scenes utility work during non-park hours.
