Disney Wins Lawsuit Over Viral 2022 Magic Kingdom Fight
Nearly four years after one of the most talked-about guest altercations ever captured at Walt Disney World, Disney has officially won the lawsuit stemming from the viral July 2022 fight at Magic Kingdom.

The incident happened on July 20, 2022, near Mickey’s PhilharMagic in Fantasyland. According to court documents, two families had an earlier confrontation while waiting in the attraction’s queue after one family claimed a relative had been pushed. They alerted a Cast Member, who separated the groups by directing one family to a different entrance. Neither security nor law enforcement was requested at that time, and both families watched the attraction without any further issues.
The situation escalated moments after guests exited the theater. Court records state that one family allegedly confronted the other, leading to a large physical altercation that quickly spread through the area. Disney Cast Members immediately responded by radioing security, calling 911, creating a barrier between those involved, and helping de-escalate the fight until Orange County Sheriff’s deputies arrived. Body camera footage from the incident later spread widely across social media, making it one of the most infamous guest fights in Walt Disney World history.
The family who filed the lawsuit alleged Disney was negligent in providing security, arguing the confrontation was foreseeable after Cast Members had been notified of the earlier disagreement. Disney countered that the assault was a sudden and unforeseeable criminal act committed by third parties and that the company had no legal duty to protect guests from that unexpected violence.
In May 2026, Disney asked the court for summary judgment, requesting the case be decided without going to trial. On July 13, 2026, Circuit Court Judge Michael Deen agreed, ruling in Disney’s favor and dismissing the lawsuit before it reached a jury. Final judgment was entered for Disney on all claims, bringing the nearly four-year legal battle to an end.

The original fight gained national attention after videos circulated online and reports revealed that multiple guests involved received bans from Walt Disney World following the incident.
Whether you view the ruling as a victory for Disney or simply the conclusion of a long legal saga, the case serves as another reminder that even the Most Magical Place on Earth is not immune to real-world courtroom drama.
