The All-New Earl of Sandwich Reopens in Downtown Disney!
The wait is officially over: Earl of Sandwich has made its grand return to the Downtown Disney District! Debuting its biggest and most immersive restaurant experience yet, the new location offers guests innovative ways to connect with the brand while still delivering the classic hospitality fans love.
The celebrated brand was founded by hospitality pioneer Robert Earl in partnership with the Montagu family—including John Montagu, the 11th Earl of Sandwich, and his son Orlando. The iconic eatery proudly traces its roots all the way back to 1762, when the 4th Earl of Sandwich famously inspired the invention of the world’s favorite handheld meal.
The big news at this location? The debut of The Carvery. This centerpiece experience brings a little culinary theater to your meal, giving you a front-row seat as premium pastrami is carved fresh throughout the day. It is the ultimate showcase for the brand-new Earl’s Pastrami sandwich, which features slow-cooked pastrami piled high with Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, Dijonnaise, and Thousand Island dressing on marbled rye. Don’t worry, purists—you can still grab legendary favorites like The Full Montagu® and The Original 1762®, alongside their classic wraps, fresh salads, and cold-cut deli options.
But the menu upgrades don’t stop at lunch. A freshly expanded bakery serves up oversized, topping-loaded cookies, pillowy cinnamon rolls, and rotating seasonal treats all day long. Plus, if you’re looking to sit back and relax, The Pub (located right inside the restaurant) invites guests to unwind with draft beers, wine, frozen cocktails, and refreshing seasonal sips.

We wanted to create a destination worthy of the Downtown Disney District,” said Robert Earl, founder of Earl of Sandwich. “Earl of Sandwich has always been rooted in a remarkable story, but history alone isn’t enough. As Downtown Disney enters an exciting new chapter, we saw an opportunity to reimagine what Earl of Sandwich could be alongside it. This new location honors our heritage while creating moments of discovery around every corner, all while delivering the quality, exceptional value, and hospitality our guests have come to expect from us.”
To mark this massive milestone, royal sandwich history is coming straight to Anaheim! Luke Montagu, the 12th Earl of Sandwich and direct descendant of the man who started it all, will be traveling to the Disneyland Resort for the grand opening celebration on Wednesday, July 15. More than 260 years after the sandwich first changed the culinary game, his special appearance brings the brand’s incredible heritage full circle for a whole new generation of Disney guests.
Planning a visit to taste the magic for yourself? Located right in the heart of the Downtown Disney® District, the new Earl of Sandwich is open daily from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and keeps the party going from 8 a.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
An official grand opening for the restaurant is slated for Wednesday, July 15.
