Ivy the Baby Giraffe Takes Her First Steps on the Savanna at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
There is a new little leaf-lover stretching her legs at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and we were lucky enough to see it happen in person! Disney invited us out to witness a very special milestone as Ivy, a Masai giraffe born at the park in April, made her debut on the Kilimanjaro Safaris savanna.

It was an honor to be among the first guests and media members to watch Ivy take her first steps into her new home. While giraffe calves are born ready to stand and walk shortly after birth, seeing Ivy cautiously explore the vast savanna alongside her herd was a heartwarming experience. From curious glances to confident strides, it was clear this young giraffe was ready for her next big adventure.
Guests visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom can now keep an eye out for Ivy during their journey through Harambe Wildlife Reserve on Kilimanjaro Safaris. The arrival of a new Masai giraffe is an exciting addition to the park and highlights Disney’s continued commitment to animal care, conservation, and education.
