Main Street, U.S.A. Pavement Refurbishment Underway
If you’re planning a stroll toward Cinderella Castle this week, you might want to keep an eye on the ground. Disney has officially begun a refurbishment project on a section of the iconic Main Street, U.S.A. at Magic Kingdom, ensuring the “Great American Neighborhood” stays in tip-top shape for the thousands of guests who traverse it daily.

Construction Details
The focus of the work is currently centered outside Crystal Arts, near the corner where Center Street intersects with the main thoroughfare.
- Temporary Measures: A large section of the pavement has been pulled up and replaced with heavy-duty temporary boards.
- Safety First: To prevent any accidental trips or stumbles, the boards feature bright yellow edges, making them highly visible against the traditional red-tiled sidewalk and grey asphalt.
- Strategic Location: The boards are positioned right at the edge of the sidewalk, specifically covering a curb cut.

Behind the Magic
While the boards are a temporary eyesore for photographers, they serve a vital purpose. These coverings typically protect areas where the ground has been excavated to repair utilities, leveling issues, or worn-out concrete.
In true Disney fashion, the heavy lifting is happening behind the scenes. Work takes place overnight while the park is closed, ensuring that guests’ daytime experience is impacted as little as possible by loud machinery or active construction crews.
For now, the sidewalk remains open, though the walkway is slightly narrowed in that specific corner. Guests using strollers or ECVs should use a bit of extra caution when navigating the curb cut near Crystal Arts.
Disney has not yet announced an official completion date for the project, but these types of pavement refreshes usually move quickly to keep the guest flow moving smoothly.
