Disneyland Revamps Park Operations to Meet Insane Fan Demand
The debut of “Bluey’s Best Day Ever!” at Disneyland yesterday proved to be challenging for both guests and Cast Members. While the show was popular, the scale of the Bluey fandom led to shifts in park operations and logistical hurdles as the day progressed.

The high-energy dance breaks that defined Saturday’s previews were noticeably quieter yesterday as Disneyland prioritized getting as many fans into the theater as possible. To handle the overwhelming turnout, the open dance area was repurposed for seating, effectively curbing the “get up and move” vibe of the show. Only the early-morning performance maintained its original capacity; for the rest of the day, increased attendance meant that most families remained seated just to fit everyone in.

Operational issues peaked when the show’s “open-play” design met massive demand. Because the theater offered food and photo opportunities alongside the performance, audiences were reluctant to leave once the curtains closed. Cast Members struggled to implement a clear “exit” strategy, especially as some guests performed a “loop-around,” pretending to head for snacks before jumping right back into the queue for a repeat viewing.
The show’s length also proved to be a hurdle. At 30 to 40 minutes, the runtime was longer than many parents anticipated for a toddler-centric event. This resulted in significant “audience churn,” with families leaving mid-show as younger viewers hit their limit, further complicating the flow of traffic in and out of the Fantasyland Theatre.

The sheer scale of the Bluey fandom was on full display as crowds at the Fantasyland Theatre surged to double their intended capacity for the final four performances. Adding to the confusion, the scheduled rotation between “Show 1” and “Show 2” was scrapped, with the theatre running an unpredictable sequence that left some guests seeing the same show twice.
Lines for the event became a logistical nightmare, stretching from the theatre entrance all the way back to the Matterhorn Bobsleds. Cast Members were forced to close the queue for capacity multiple times, reopening it briefly only to be swamped again. By the time the final show was seated, hundreds of disappointed guests had to be turned away.
