Disney Officially Greenlights ZOMBIES 5 with Malachi Barton and Freya Skye
The supernatural saga that has defined a generation is expanding! Disney Branded Television has announced that a fifth installment of the ZOMBIES franchise is a go for Disney+ and Disney Channel. Following the massive global success of ZOMBIES 4: Dawn of the Vampires, the story is heading to the high seas—or at least the shoreline—as mermaids officially join the monster mash.

The Cast: Familiar Fangs and New Fins
Breakout stars Malachi Barton and Freya Skye are set to return as Victor and Nova, the duo that led the charge in the fourth film. They aren’t the only familiar faces returning to the fold:
- The Return of Bucky: Fan-favorite Trevor Tordjman is back as the legendary cheer captain (and Addison’s cousin), Bucky!
- The Rayburn Crew: Also returning are Swayam Bhatia (Vera), Julian Lerner (Ray), and Mekonnen Knife (Vargas).
- The OGs: Franchise icons Milo Manheim and Meg Donnelly are staying close to the magic, returning once again as executive producers.
- Meet the Mermaids: Joining the cast as a mysterious trio of mermaids are Diaana Babnicova (Pearl), Taylor Oliver (Fin), and Olive Mortimer (Sandy).
- A New Zombie in Town: Emily Costtrici joins the franchise as Izzy, a new transfer student who just happens to be Zed’s zombie cousin!

Picking up after the events of ZOMBIES 4, the newfound harmony between Daywalkers and Vampires in Rayburn is about to be tested. A band of “fierce mermaids” arrives on the scene, using a persuasive siren song to lure in allies and stir up trouble. It’s up to Nova and Victor to unite their groups, resist the melody, and figure out the mermaids’ true agenda before their fragile peace is washed away.
Behind the Scenes Magic
DGA Award-winner Paul Hoen, who has directed every single ZOMBIES film to date, returns to helm this fifth chapter. The creative team also includes:
- Choreography: Dondraico Johnson (expect next-level dance sequences!)
- Score: Tom Howe
- Writers: Chris Hazzard, Michael Fontana, and Eydie Faye.
Production is slated to begin this spring in New Zealand, with an official title expected to be revealed later this year.
