Disney+ Announces ‘Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special’ Premiering March 24th
Exactly two decades after its debut on Disney Channel, the series that became a global phenomenon is returning to the spotlight. Disney+ has officially announced the “Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special,” scheduled to premiere on March 24, 2026.
The special aims to celebrate the lasting legacy of the Emmy-nominated franchise, which significantly influenced children’s television, music, and fashion throughout the 2000s.

An Intimate Look at a Global Icon
The anniversary event, filmed in front of a live studio audience, will be anchored by an exclusive, in-depth interview with Miley Cyrus. The conversation will be hosted by Alex Cooper (Call Her Daddy), providing an intimate retrospective on the creation of the Hannah Montana character and its cultural impact.
Fans can expect a blend of nostalgia and new insights as Cyrus revisits the music and memories of the era. The special will also feature:
- Never-before-seen archival footage from the series’ original run.
- Meticulous set recreations, including the Stewart family living room and the iconic revolving closet.
- Musical surprises, with the announcement teasing that “familiar notes” will return to the stage.
A Record-Breaking Legacy
Since its premiere, Hannah Montana has amassed a massive global following. The franchise has generated 14 platinum and 18 gold albums worldwide and spawned two successful feature films. To date, the Hannah Montana catalog has surpassed half a billion hours streamed globally on Disney+.
“‘Hannah Montana’ will always be a part of who I am,” said Miley Cyrus in a statement. “This ‘Hannahversary’ is my way of celebrating and thanking the fans who’ve stood by me for 20 years.”
Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television, added, “Partnering with Miley on this special is a dream, and we want it to be a love letter to the fans, who remain as passionate today as they were when the series debuted.”
Streaming Details and Pre-Show Content
Ahead of the March 24 premiere, Disney+ is launching a dedicated non-stop Stream starting February 19. This continuous broadcast will feature all four seasons of the original series, Hannah Montana: The Movie, and the Best of Both Worlds Concert film.
The special is produced by HopeTown Entertainment and Unwell Productions. Ashley Edens serves as showrunner, with executive producers including Miley Cyrus, Tish Cyrus-Purcell, Alex Cooper, and Matt Kaplan.
