Federal Charges Filed Against Man Linked to Threats Targeting Vice President Vance

An Anaheim man faces federal charges after allegedly threatening “bloodshed” during Vice President J.D. Vance’s Disneyland visit last summer, according to court filings obtained Friday.

Federal prosecutors have charged 22-year-old Marco Antonio Aguayo after he allegedly posted a bomb threat on Disney’s Instagram page during the Vice President’s July 12, 2025, visit. According to a complaint filed in Los Angeles, Aguayo claimed that pipe bombs had been planted in anticipation of J.D. Vance’s arrival. Now facing a federal count of threatening a successor to the presidency, Aguayo was arrested Friday and is scheduled for an initial court appearance this Tuesday in Santa Ana.

Prosecutors allege Aguayo posted multiple threats, including warnings of “bloodshed” and a call to “rise up” against “corrupt politicians.” While the defendant initially told Secret Service agents his account had been hacked, the federal complaint states he later admitted to writing the posts. Aguayo reportedly claimed the threats were intended as a “joke” to gain attention and that he had simply forgotten to delete them. In response to the arrest, Attorney General Pamela Bondi praised the investigation, stating the case highlights the dangers public officials face and vowing that her office would deliver “swift justice.”

Aguayo faces a maximum sentence of five years in federal prison if found guilty, according to prosecutors.
