The Baba Llama? Jared Bush Eyes Keanu Reeves for ‘Zootopia 3’
With Zootopia 2 shattering box office records and officially crossing the $1 billion mark, fans are already looking toward the future of the mammal metropolis. In a recent celebratory Q&A, co-director and Disney CCO Jared Bush revealed a dream casting choice for a potential third installment that has the internet buzzing: action icon Keanu Reeves.

A Pun Worthy of John Wick
During a session on X (formerly Twitter), Bush was asked which actor he’d love to see join the franchise. His answer was immediate and inspired by a suggestion from his own family.
“I’m a huge John Wick fan. And my son has begged me to ask Keanu Reeves to play an assassin named ‘The Baba Llama’—and I can’t imagine a better cameo!”
The name is a clever play on Wick’s legendary underworld moniker, “The Baba Yaga.” It fits perfectly within the Zootopia universe’s tradition of animal-based wordplay, joining the ranks of cameos like Michael J. Fox as “Michael J, a fox” and Disney CEO Bob Iger as the weather-reporting “Bob Tiger.”

Why the Casting Makes Sense
While Zootopia 3 hasn’t been officially greenlit, the likelihood of Reeves joining the Disney family again is high. The actor has already proven his voice-acting chops within the Disney-Pixar umbrella as the high-octane Duke Caboom in Toy Story 4.
Furthermore, Reeves is currently expanding the John Wick universe in multiple directions:
- Spin-offs: He recently appeared in Ballerina: From the World of John Wick.
- Sequels: John Wick 5 is officially in development.
- Animation: Reeves is expected to voice the character in an upcoming animated prequel film.

The Future of the Franchise
Zootopia 2 has cemented itself as a global phenomenon, surpassing Lilo & Stitch to become the highest-grossing Hollywood film of the year and the second-biggest Hollywood release in Chinese history (trailing only Avengers: Endgame).
Despite the massive success, fans will need to be patient for a third outing. Disney’s upcoming slate is packed:
- 2026: Reserved for the original film Hex.
- 2027: The release of Frozen 3.
- 2028: Rumored window for Frozen 4.
While the Zootopia 2 post-credits scene teased a future focus on birds, the addition of a llama assassin might be exactly what the franchise needs to keep its momentum high
