Jurassic World VelociCoaster Shuts Down Single Rider Line to Maximize Filled Seats

Jurassic World VelociCoaster is racing into a new operational era, but not in a way that thrill-seekers were expecting. During recent visits, guests have found the single rider entrance not just closed but the sign completely covered by a black tarp. Universal has not made any official announcement regarding the long-term status of single rider, so for now its future remains a mystery lurking in the raptor paddock.

To help keep those trains fully loaded, VelociCoaster is currently operating with a new two-line system, separating guests into groups with an even or odd number of riders. Team Members then sort and load Guests accordingly, all in an effort to ensure no seat goes empty on a coaster that is among the most popular attractions at the resort. The change appears to be Universal’s latest strategy to boost throughput on what is already Florida’s tallest and fastest launch coaster, catapulting riders to 70 mph in just 2.4 seconds at the start of the hunt.

While the single rider line has been a fan-favorite hack for shaving down wait times, it’s clear that VelociCoaster’s massive demand has created challenges for operations. With accolades like USA Today’s Best New Theme Park Attraction and multiple coaster-of-the-year wins, the attraction continues to draw crowds as fierce as the raptors it’s themed to. Whether the single rider closure becomes a permanent shift or a temporary operational tweak remains to be seen, but for now Guests should plan on pairing up or splitting into even and odd groups before entering the paddock.
