Idina Menzel, Josh Gad, and Cast Score Jaw-Dropping $60 Million Each for Sequels
In a move making history for animated film contracts, stars Kristen Bell, Josh Gad, and Idina Menzel have secured massive deals for their returns in Frozen 3 and Frozen 4. Adding to the creative continuity, director Jennifer Lee is also confirmed to return.

The Frozen franchise remains one of Disney’s most valuable assets, with Frozen 2 earning a staggering $1.4 billion at the box office (following the original’s $1.3 billion haul). Recognizing this success, stars Kristen Bell, Josh Gad, and Idina Menzel have secured a colossal pay increase, reportedly netting $60 million each for the next two sequels.
This massive fee, which includes both upfront payments and backend bonuses, is a steep four-fold increase from the $15 million they each earned for Frozen 2. Notably, all three actors receive equal pay for both speaking and singing roles, and the two new films are scheduled to be produced simultaneously.
The stars’ unprecedented $60 million compensation will be distributed over several years, aligning with the films’ production and release schedule—a departure from the usual lump-sum payment structure. Critically, the full award-winning creative team is returning: Jennifer Lee (co-director/co-writer) will guide the project alongside Trent Correy, producer Peter Del Vecho, and songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez.
While concept art was shared last year, Josh Gad (Olaf) recently provided a production update. Fans can expect Frozen 3 to arrive over the Thanksgiving weekend 2027, though Frozen 4 does not yet have a release date.
